Causes

Ms. Halston is involved with many charitable causes including Broadway Cares /Equity Fights AIDS, Broadway Barks, and The North Shore Animal League. However, the cause dearest to her heart is The Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (PFF). The reason is very simple. Her beloved husband, broadcaster Ralph Howard, was diagnosed in 2008 with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. It is a fatal disease that has no known cause and no known cure. The only chance of extending life is a lung transplant which luckily Ralph received in 2010.

Pulmonary Fibrosis is being diagnosed by the thousands each year in this country, but awareness and funding are only starting to build now. Last year Julie hosted an event for the PFF which turned out to be an SRO/Broadway event featuring Broadway stars such as Kevin Chamberlin, Sherie Rene Scott, and the legendary Liza Minnelli. The evening was so successful there was another event on February 27, 2012 at Birdland in New York City where we raised nearly $50,000!
